Internet Safety
Safe and Positive Use of the Internet

Ysgol Bro Banw takes full advantage of the Internet for pupils at the school to develop their I.C.T. and learning skills. The school’s ‘Acceptable Use Policy’ states that pupils only use web sites that are supplied by the staff. Pupils are supervised when using the Internet and are not allowed to visit any other web sites

As many pupils have Internet access outside school we would like to highlight possible dangers with ‘Teenage Social Networking’ websites. Some pupils are using sites such as : Bebo, Piczo and Myspace. The main issue with ‘Teenage Social Networking’ web sites is that children can provide their personal details (e.g. Address, Phone Number). This information can be viewed by anyone and does provide an opportunity for dangerous or inappropriate contact with strangers.

The Internet is fantastic resource for children to communicate, learn and play but we need to inform them how to use it responsibly.
